Shakuhachi and Piano Duet Performance

Join us at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens for a shakuhachi and piano duet performance by Geni Skendo and Choko Aiken. They will be performing a variety of Japanese folk and anime songs that have been arranged for the shakuhachi. 

The performance will be followed
by a question and answer session
with the musicians.
Geni Skendo

Mr. Skendo is an accomplished Jazz and Folk musician from Albania. He performs solo as well as in the groups "Astronauts of Albania" and the free improvised chamber music group, Samurai Jazz Trio, consisting of shakuhachi, bass/shamisen and piano.

Choko Aiken

Mrs. Aiken is a versatile jazz pianist/keyboardist. She performs well both as a solo act and as part of groups. In 2013 she moved from Japan to the U.S. and has since performed in many local 
Birmingham venues.
